After watching The Town I wanted to rob a bank, it’s that kind of film – good and visceral, I asked my friend if he was in and he agreed asking what masks we were going to wear and I replied with the following, – “I was thinking former prime ministers in a clever nod to Point Break without blatantly ripping it off, we then just need to decide who dies with a bullet in the face and who gets away avoiding any repercussions from their life of armed robbery and murder, plus who gets the girl (who although hot is considerably less attractive than Blake Lively)… I’m going for the bullet in the face.”

#172 – Team America
ComedyTeam America is mostly shit apart from Kim Jong Il, “You are worthress, Arec Barrwin!”
#171 – Aliens
ActionAliens is my favourite of the franchise mostly due to it having Michael Biehn being fucking heroic as Hicks and that it’s about space marines fighting aliens, plus it has some brilliant lines such as “I like to keep this handy… for close encounters.”
#170 – Dead Snow
HorrorThe premise of Dead Snow, nazi zombies in a winter wonderland, is considerably better than the film.
#169 – The Children
HorrorHorror as it should be The Children is genuinely creepy and fucked up, plus poor old Jeremy Sheffield, even a career largely spent in a hospital drama can’t save him from a brilliantly gruesome end.
#168 – The Endless Summer
DocumentaryThe Endless Summer follows two American surfers around the globe as they embark on a surf tour in the early 60s, not only is it great for the content but also the irreverent and somewhat humourless voice over by Lord ‘Tally Ho’ Blears.
#167 – Valkyrie
DramaBryan Singer, Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise, two out of three ain’t bad, Valkyrie demonstrates this and to be honest Tom is alright as an eye-patch wearing nazi with a conscience, add to that the benefits of a fine supporting cast which includes Bill Nighy – and I love that man!
#166 – Romance and Cigarettes
MusicalDoing this retrospectively is tough, honestly I have a list of like 100 films to get through, clearly Romance and Cigarettes was one of the less good films during this period of ReelEyes inactivity as I didn’t even remember it was a musical until I read the IMDB entry.
#165 – The Kite Runner
DramaRape, beards and trouble in Afghanistan are the mainstay of The Kite Runner and it all unites to do justice to the beloved novel, I couldn’t say though as I’ve not read it.
#164 – 8½
DramaWhat do you want me to say, it’s Fellini’s 8½.
