The reboot, what a strange thing it is… and The Amazing Spider-Man doesn’t escape the oddness that comes from seeing a film remade only a few years on from the original. The main point of difference seemed to be web-shooters and a Gwen instead of a Mary-Jane. Both changes were welcome I think it’s safe to say, if not earth shattering. I guess the problem with these films is that they’re painfully and obviously designed to depart movie-goers from their cash rather than an absolute love of subject matter, story-telling or film-making. Whatever it does, this flick feels like someone sat in a boardroom and went, “Yeah they’ll go for another three Spider super-hero movies, green light it.”
